Passing the Baton
How to plan for a positive leadership transition to a new System Manager

Leadership Best Practices
Passing the Baton, involves planning and celebrating the transition of a key System Manager's role to a new person. The Everest System Manager is a pivotal individual in the organization who sustains the success of the system. Performing far more than just administrative functions, the System Manager is fundamentally a leader, responsible for sustaining the success of your Quality Initiative over time.

Everest is a powerful software tool, but the results that are possible may not be fully realized when the essential human component of the system is not cultivated properly. Positioning a new person for the pivotal new Everest leadership role should be spotlighted because it is truly an opportunity to re-focus everyone's efforts on the organization's Goals, Mission and Vision. The transition can be leveraged in simple ways such as an announcement in a newsletter or memo. Sometimes the transition becomes a more important turning point, where new leadership creates the momentum necessary to achieve new levels of success. For more ideas, read the Change Leadership Planner document we've included here for you.

Everest is the framework that connects your customers to better service and better quality. When new personnel join your Everest team, celebrate this transition with some planning and dedicate time to provide whatever level of software instruction the person may require. Lynk Software can help in this regard with our Refresher Web Workshop, designed specifically for existing Everest systems, to help at that pivotal point when Passing the Baton.

The new System Manager's role and responsibilities should be clearly understood including the level of leadership that will be necessary. In this way, you are symbolically Passing the Baton from one leader to the next. Passing the Baton emphasizes the value and meaning of your work, ensuring that your Customer Focused Quality traditions will continue.
